Just finished reading this. A great little book packed with ideas and a new perspective on being creative. I plan on ‘stealing’ some of this and putting it into practice.
I had a great day today with these two. I saw them in City Park with their packs and a map spread out. We see a lot of people travelling through our city on foot and I am always curious about where they’re from and where they’re going to. I took a chance and started talking to them. Ended up giving them a ride to a nearby city and spent the afternoon with them. Very glad I did! (Taken with Instagram)
I would love to take a trip like this… photographing and drawing all the way.

Instagramming
I’ve been posting quite a number of things on Instagram lately. I don’t copy everything I post on Instagram to Tumblr, but I have been selectively sharing some of them here.
I have always enjoyed and appreciated photography, though I have never considered myself a photographer. I have taken some pictures that I really like, but for the most part I have thought of photography as a tool for record purposes. In the past I have primarily drawn from photos - now I am working with a combination of sketches from live models and photographs.
I am new to Instagram since my wife upgraded her iPhone and I inherited her beat up 3GS. I am using it as an iPod basically - mainly for Instagram.
Instagram is a little different than traditional photography for me.
It gives me an instant way to record things that inspire me and are ideas for artwork, while being a work of art in themselves sometimes. It has sparked new creativity and helped open up my eyes to art that is all around me everyday. It has also introduced me to a community of people who see things in a similar way - and I think as a community, we spur one another on.
I am really enjoying the Instagram… but I do need to get drawing!
